- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- dash salt
- 1 T sugar (optional)
- 1 t vanilla or cinnamon (optional)
- butter, as needed
- 8 slices bread
- Heat griddle or skillet over medium-low heat.
- Beat eggs and stir in milk, salt, and the optional sugar, vanilla, or cinnamon.
- Add a teaspoon of butter to the griddle. When melted, dip slice of bread in batter and put on griddle.
- Cook till browned on each side, turning as needed, for no more than 10 minutes total.
*Crispy version: Stir 1/2 c flour into the batter. Or instead dip in batter, and then dredge in sweetened bread crumbs or crushed corn flakes.
*Carmelized version: Sprinkle or dredge the dipped bread with sugar.
*Ideas for toppings:
