- 1 c butter, softened, plus enough to grease the pan
- 1 1/4 c sugar
- 1 c flour
- 1/2 c cream
- pinch salt
- 1/4 c honey
- 1 c chopped walnuts or other nuts
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Grease 8-9″ square pan.
- Cream 1/2 c of butter with 1/4 c sugar.
- Stir in flour. Mixture will be dry.
- Press mixture into pan.
- Bake 15 minutes. Cool slightly.
- Put remaining c of sugar and 1 T water in pan on medium high and cook till it turns light brown = 5-8 minutes.
- Stir in remaining butter, the cream, and the salt.
- Add the honey and walnuts.
- Pour over baked crust.
- Refrigerate till set.
*Cherry chocolate version: Omit honey. Add 2 oz chopped semi-sweet chocolate and 1 c dried cherries along with the nuts.
