- 1/2 lb ground pork, chicken, or other meat
- 1/4 c minced green onion
- 1 c leek, napa cabbage, or bok choy
- 1 t minced ginger
- 1 t rice wine or dry sherry
- 1 t sugar
- 1 T soy sauce
- 1 T dark sesame oil
- 1 egg
- 1 t pepper
- large pinch salt
- 24 wonton or gyoza wrappers
- veg oil
- Mix everything except wrappers.
- Put 2 t of filling in center of wrapper, moisten edge and fold (to make semi-circle) and press seam. Press out air.
- Put thin layer of oil in big deep skillet, heat on medium-high.
- Put in dumplings, seam side up. Do not crowd.
- Turn heat to medium. Cover and cook 5 minutes.
- Add 1/2 c water, then cover and cook till water evaporates = 3 minutes.
